Faust The Pact 2014 |
James Suckling 95 points - A rich and layered red showing classic aromas of pure cabernet sauvignon from sweet tobacco and green olives to currants. Full-bodied, long and flavorful. Gorgeous red. Better in 2020..January/2017
The Pact is sourced from Coombsville in the eastern foothills south of Atlas Peak. It is Napa Valley’s newest appellation and Faust’s home vineyard location. The marine breeze from nearby San Pablo Bay provides a cooler climate than Napa Valley’s more northern appellations allowing for slow, even ripening and an extended hang time which results in excellent structure, dark fruit character and layered complexity.
The Pact honors one of the most famous agreements in literature - the pivotal moment when Dr. Faust trades his soul to satisfy his mortal desire for the beautiful maiden, Margarete, and his quest for renewed passion and youth. It also speaks to Agustin’s belief in Coombsville and all that it has to offer - power, complexity and elegance.
