A true wine lover's wine, there's nothing quite like it."

Luca Maroni 95 points-- This is an incredibly delicious, value-priced Amarone

A Venetian wine made with the appassimento technique (grapes air drying in trays) and 3-year barrel-aged. Amazing depth and roundness, a truly meditative wine.

Is there a more striking fine red than a really good Amarone? In terms of sheer exuberance and depth of flavour there are few that can match it, and its popularity is absolutely soaring. We were delighted to find this one recently from the Famiglia Cielo, with a very appealing price tag. Its absolutely bursting with ripe, bitter-cherry fruit, woodsmoke, spice, and a rich, flavourful palate.

Amarone is made largely from dried grapes, which gives it its profound intensity it has the power and presence to stand up to rich, highly-spiced dishes, but it absolutely comes into its own after dinner or with a fine cheese what the Italians call a Vino da Meditazione something to sip and savor!

I adore fine Amarone and have never had one so good at such a modest price. Made from partially dried Corvina and Rondinella, it's velvety smooth and oh so drinkable. At 15 percent volume, one might think it brooding and brutal, whereas it's a pussy cat of a wine that slips down alarmingly easily with its black cherry fruit, seductive vanilla, and silky tannins.

Amarone

Don’t understand how this wine ever made the score it did. Doesn’t deserve it. I like amarone but not this one!
