Chivas Regal XV is a 15-year-old blended Scotch with a twist: it's finished in casks that once held Grande Champagne cognac. That last stage is what makes it different from the regular Chivas range.
The cognac casks push it toward the sweet, fruity side. Expect candied orange, dried fruit and honey, with soft cinnamon and a little toasted oak. It's smooth and rounded, with very little smoke, so it suits people who find most Scotch too sharp.
Drink it neat or with one large ice cube. It also works in a simple highball with soda or ginger ale if you want something lighter. Good after dinner with dark chocolate or fruit cake, and an easy gift for someone who likes cognac and is curious about whisky.
