DESCRIPTION
Chateau Tour Saint Christophe is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru on the Cassevert hillside, on the border between Saint-Emilion and Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. Peter Kwok and his daughter Karen bought it in 2012. Part of the vineyard is planted on narrow, old clay-limestone terraces, and the new owners had about 1.5 km of dry-stone terrace walls rebuilt by hand.
In 2015 the vines of neighboring Chateau Tourans were added, bringing the estate to about 20 hectares. The 2020 is about 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, fermented in concrete tanks with part of the crop in barrels. It is a dark, ripe Right Bank wine from a very good vintage, and one of the better values in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
Decant for an hour and serve at 62-65F in a Bordeaux glass. Pour it with roast duck, lamb chops, steak with mushrooms or a hard cheese. It will also keep in the cellar for 10 years or more.
