Château de Thauvenay Sancerre Les Vignes du Baron 2022 |
REGION: A White wine from Upper Loire, Loire Valley, France. Made from Sauvignon Blanc. Located in Thauvenay, facing the Loire, its 18 Ha vineyard is entirely grouped around the castle on a magnificent terroir dominated by limestone.
PROFILE: Château de Thauvenay reveals a pale yellow color. An expressive nose with an exotic dominance (pineapple, lychee, etc.). On the palate it is balanced with a nice lemony freshness.
In the typical Sauvignon Blanc fragrance, the floral notes dominate, giving finesse and elegance, followed by fresh citrus fruit aromas. The taste is round, with delicious mineral notes and a fresh long aftertaste. Very expressive scent of exotic fruits, such as pine cone, mango and grapefruit. Fat and aromatic in the taste. Very tasteful and fruity Sancerre!
PAIRING: This wine goes well with smoked salmon, crustaceans and shellfish, lobster, grilled fish or drink it as an aperitif. In the region itself, it is often drunk with goat's cheese (eg Crottin de Chavignol).
To be enjoyed young to take advantage of its aromatic potential.

Too Citrusy
Bottles came through unscathed as always. The wine, however, was not smooth. The strong citrus flavor cannot be modified with food pairings.
