DESCRIPTION
Château Cap Léon Veyrin has been making Bordeaux wine from the higher part of Listrac-Médoc between the more famous communes of Margaux and Saint-Julien.
Classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, the château is today run by the 6th generation, with Nathalie and Julien Meyre carrying on the family traditions and producing this classic Bordeaux wine that Bordeaux fans will love.
The wine is made from approx. 40-year-old vines on 15 ha of well-draining, gravelly vineyards with underlying clay and limestone. The vinification takes place with a fermentation in steel and a subsequent 12-month aging in French barrels, of which 60% are new.
Château Cap Léon Veyrin is a classic Bordeaux, which here in the rewarding 2018 vintage simply delivers good Bordeaux for the penny. The scent is rewarding and nuanced with blackcurrants, cherries, violets, spices, chocolate, tobacco, coffee and a hint of cedar.
In the mouth it follows up beautifully, where the rewarding, soft fruit rolls beautifully over the tongue, while the acidity refreshes and the buttery tannins give a food-friendly edge.
A truly balanced Bordeaux wine that can be drunk now or stored 6-10 years after the harvest year.
