Champagne Special Club Millesime Goutorbe 2012

Henri Goutorbe's "Special Club" bottling from the 2008 vintage is a truly remarkable Champagne. Apart from the fact that it hails from one of Champagne's most acclaimed modern vintages and is all Ay Grand Cru, its designation bears a particular clout. The "Special Club" wines are denoted as such by large committee of nearly every significant grower-producer in the region.

After blind tasting the submissions from various domaines, the committee makes a determination as to whether each wine deserves to be counted in the "Special Club". The standards for inclusion alone mean this wine displays extraordinary and singular character. It is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and the first fermentation is done exclusively in stainless steel.
