IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Delicious Caffo Vecchio Amaro del capo. Made from an ancient family recipe of 29 Calabrian aromatic herbs and roots. It has intense, earthy, herbal notes and makes a perfect summertime digestivo.Amaro del Capo is dark brown in color and fairly opaque. Taken as a digestif, it's meant to be served at freezer temperatures in small glasses. It smells and tastes like honey, mint, dusty spices and licorice. The citrus component is muted, but there's a lingering finish of sweet minty notes and honey. It's a decent substitution for other dark amari like Averna or Ramazzotti.

My Favorite Italian Amaro

First discovered this in Italy. Much lighter and easier to drink than Fernet, but still very flavorful and pleasant for an after dinner drink. Best served chilled, as advertised on the bottle. Obviously, still a bitter, herbaceous drink, but to me, strikes the perfect balance between a sweet amaro like Montenegro or Averna, and something more robust, like Braulio (which is very piney) or Amaro Sfumato (which is quite smokey and aptly named.) One of my absolute favorites!

Digestive Wine

The first time I had Amaro I was in a four star restaurant. My daughter suggested I try some. I loved it, but soon found out it is difficult to find in Indiana. I’ve tried several different versions but this one is by far my favorite.
