IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS
93 Points Luca Maroni: Deep ruby red with faint garnet and dusky edges. Elegant, strong and austere on the nose with a bouquet of violets, plums, incense, vanilla, candied fruit and cocoa. Full-bodied on the palate, soft and dry. The aftertaste has flavors of plums, bitter cherries, sweet cherries, candied fruit and hazelnut chocolate. Long and lingering on the finish. Confidently predicted to age magnificently.
91 Points Wine Advocate: Tinazzi's 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella La Bastia Ca de' Rocchi opens to chewy, dark concentration with rich layers of mesquite wood, Spanish cedar, sweet cherry preserves and barbecue smoke. The wine ages in oak barrels for two years and the wood influence is strong. Some of those toasted notes should diminish with bottle aging, but this will forever remain a spice-driven Amarone. Thankfully, the natural richness of the fruit offers good balance. The blend of grapes used is 85% Corvina, 15% Rondinella and 5% Molinara.
