The Russian River Valley climate is largely influenced by the fogs that roll in from the nearby Pacific Ocean each evening. This cools down the vineyards where daytime temperatures can reach 35 to 40 degrees Celsius allowing grapes to ripen evenly while retaining their natural acidity.
In 2019, California was drought free; winter and spring rains provided sufficient moisture to midsummer and irrigation was not needed until July. This, and a mild growing season, allowed the grapes to evenly ripen and resulted in excellent quality of fruit.
