The Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two woods. During its period of maturation The Balvenie Doublewood is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill Spanish oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt - the traditional casks, having previously held bourbon, soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour.

The first nosing passes discover scents of walnuts, grass and dark toffee; aromas of black tea and tobacco come to the forefront. Entry is delightfully grainy, malty and vanilla bean-bittersweet; the midpalate is silky, creamy, Sherry-sweet, pruny, black raisin-like and delicious. Ends on a medium-sweet dark chocolate note. Best scotch for casual drinking

This scotch has became my favorite casual sipper from the moment I first tried it. For the price, I wasn’t expecting much, but there’s so much character it’s undeniably a scotch enthusiasts dream. There’s a cereal-like finish to it that really rounded off the pallet and had me coming back for more!

Excellent

All the whisky is matured in American oak then transferred to European sherry casks. The former provides creamy, vanilla notes while the latter imbues the scotch with honey and apricot goodness. The barley is not peated, so this offering is smoke-free. I really enjoy the DoubleWood. Can’t be beat at this price point. Highly Recommended. Wine Chateau delivered my order quickly, using plenty of packaging material inside a thick box…as usual. Highly Recommended.

An excellent 12 year old scotch - one of the best

As a before or after-dinner malt, this gem will will leave you pleasantly surprised. Producing a rich and complex experience, this single malt has been cured in oak casks then finished in Sherry casks for a very pleasant finish. Don't add water or ice. Use rocks if you must but this scotch begs to be enjoyed neat. This really is great stuff.
