Williams Selyem is one of the Sonoma wineries that built California's reputation for Pinot Noir, and its wines have long been sought after by collectors.
Expect a fragrant, elegant Pinot: red cherry, raspberry and a little spice and earth, with bright acidity and a silky texture. Sonoma's cool coastal influence keeps the fruit fresh rather than heavy. The winery is famous for its mailing list, and the wines rarely stay on shelves for long, so this is a nice chance to try one.
Serve it slightly cool, around 58-60F, in a Burgundy glass. Great with salmon, roast chicken, duck or mushroom dishes. A fine gift for a Pinot lover, and a good bottle to put away for a couple of years.
