• Corn whiskey produced by Prieto y Prieta in Oaxaca, Mexico • Maestro Destilador Oscar Manuel • Distilled from 100% Oaxacan heirloom white, red, purple, and yellow corn varieties (exact blend may vary batch to batch) • Corn is milled using a mechanical hammer mill • Open-air fermented using well water, yeast, and vinasse from previous distillations • Double distilled in a hybrid pot and column still composed of copper and stainless steel • Aged a minimum of 3 years in a combination of new French oak, ex–bourbon barrels, and barrels used to age Mexican sherry-style wine • Roasted corn, chocolate cherry cordial candy, cinnamon, and almond on the nose precede a bold palate led by grilled corn—charred husk and all—and earthy, vegetal undertones of parsnip, spinach, and dark chocolate with lingering notes of creamed corn, cocoa powder, and green peppercorn on a dry and moreish finish • No added coloring • Non-chill filtered; 43% ABV Preito y Prieta’s flagship Whiskey de Maiz is a unique corn whiskey produced using four varieties of 100% Oaxacan heirloom corn matured in three different cask types. Aged for three years before blending and bottling, the influence of the casks are seamlessly integrated, lending subtle notes of baking spice and red fruit without overshadowing the grain-forward complexity of the whiskey.
