DESCRIPTION
Vega Sicilia was founded at Valbuena de Duero in 1864 and remains the benchmark estate of Ribera del Duero. Valbuena takes its name from the village and is aged five years before release: a year in barrel, a year in large wooden vats, six months in tank and the rest in bottle. Tempranillo with a little Merlot, from vines between 720 and 930 metres on limestone marl. Blackberry and cocoa with graphite and sandalwood, and violets behind.
