The Dalmore is a Highland distillery known for its stag emblem and its sherry casks, and the 15 is the house style at its clearest. It spends 12 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. Then the whisky is split three ways into Amoroso, Apostoles and Matusalem oloroso sherry woods for three more years, and finally married together in a sherry butt.
The result is smooth, rich and round. Orange marmalade, cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose. Mandarin, vanilla, ginger and crushed apples on the palate. The finish is caramelized orange and dark chocolate, and it stays a while.
Pour it neat or with a drop of water. Try it with dark chocolate with orange, a fruit cake or a hard cheese. A great choice for a whisky drinker who loves a sherried style, and the stag on the bottle makes it look as good as it tastes.
