• 100% Spanna, the local name for Nebbiolo in Alto Piemonte • Named after Bernardo Vallana, a legendary winemaker and the first to bring Spanna, Alto Piemonte and its quality potential to the global market’s attention in the 1950s • Grapes are hand-harvested and put into small 15kg baskets • Fermented for 10 days in Bernardo Vallana’s original concrete vats without any temperature control (other than delestage) • Aged in used 500L wooden casks for one year • Aged for a period of time in the cellar before release • 125 cases produced annually
