Sogno di Sorrento is a limoncello house from Italy's Amalfi Coast, and this is its cream version. Limoncello is the classic lemon liqueur of southern Italy, from the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrento peninsula, the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida.
Limoncello is made by steeping lemon peels in alcohol, then adding water and sugar. For the Crema, Sogno di Sorrento blends its limoncello, made from fresh Amalfi lemons, with Italian panna crema (fresh cream). The result is a smooth, pale yellow liqueur where bright lemon meets sweet, custard-like notes. Think lemon cream pie in a glass. Sweet, but the lemon keeps it lively.
Keep the bottle in the fridge and serve it well chilled in small glasses after dinner. Pour it over vanilla gelato or fresh berries, drizzle it on pound cake, or pair it with almond cookies, biscotti or a lemon tart. Shake well before pouring, and once opened, keep it refrigerated.
