• Cask strength aged Demerara rum produced by Demerara Distillers Limited at Diamond Distillery, the last remaining distillery in Guyana • Produced in accordance with the Demerara Rum Geographical Indication • Distilled from molasses in the legendary Port Mourant double wooden vat still (PM) from the former Port Mourant Estate • Aged 12 years in ex-bourbon casks • Cocoa powder, vanilla cream, clove, and oak char on the nose precede a rich palate bursting with jammy red fruit, toasted coconut, and cherry tobacco with limestone and burnt caramel on a long, leathery finish • Bottled at a cask strength of 56.7% ABV Arguably one of the most famous stills ever constructed, the Port Mourant is a double wooden pot still renowned for its rich, high ester, heavy-bodied rum and the distinct notes of smoke and leather that result in the PM marque. Used to produce the original British Navy rum, the Port Mourant still was constructed in 1732 on the Port Mourant Estate from one of Guyana’s most abundant natural resources—greenheart wood, an evergreen revered as one of the densest, most durable woods on Earth.
