DESCRIPTION
San Felice is a historic Chianti Classico estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southern part of the zone near Siena. Il Grigio is its Chianti Classico Riserva, made from 100% Sangiovese.
The wine ages about 24 months in oak, roughly a fifth of it in small barriques and the rest in large casks, then spends about a year in bottle before release. Expect red cherry, plum, dried herbs and a firm, savory finish. All-Sangiovese Riserva at this price is a good way to taste what Chianti Classico does best.
Decant it for 30 minutes and serve at 60-64F. It is made for food: bistecca alla fiorentina, pasta with meat ragu, roast lamb or aged pecorino.
