DESCRIPTION
Regaleali is the historic estate of the Tasca d'Almerita family in the hills of central Sicily. The Vigna San Francesco is the estate's emblem vineyard, grafted in 1985 by Count Lucio Tasca to see whether Sicily could rival the great Cabernets of France.
It's Cabernet Sauvignon grown at altitude, which keeps the fruit fresh. Expect blackcurrant and dark cherry with some cedar, spice and herbs, and firm but polished tannins. It's a serious, structured red with a Mediterranean warmth.
Decant it for an hour and serve at around 62-64F. Grilled steak, lamb, braised beef or aged pecorino all work. It's a good bottle for a Cabernet lover curious to see what Sicily can do with the grape.
