Oatley's reds are often quite austere and tightly wound. By comparison, this is an accessible bottling. Fresh plums and berries lead, backed by licorice and earthy, mineral nuances.
Spicy oak is there but in the background. Savory, granular tannins create textural interest, and while this is full-bodied, restraint and balance are key to keeping muscles from flexing too overtly.
