Ruby Donna Moscato is a sweet Italian white from Puglia, the sunny region in the heel of Italy's boot.
It is made from Moscato grapes in a light, fresh style. The nose offers juicy peach and pear, with honeysuckle in the background. On the palate it is sweet, crisp and slightly sparkling, with enough acidity to keep it light. Semi-sweet and easy to drink, it is a crowd-pleaser for people who prefer softer, fruitier wines.
Serve well chilled, around 40 to 45°F, in a white wine glass. Pour it as an aperitif, at brunch, or with dessert. It goes well with fresh fruit, fruit tarts, almond biscotti and soft cheeses, and its sweetness also balances spicy Thai or Indian dishes. Drink it young, while the fruit is fresh.
