DESCRIPTION
Clos Mogador is one of the estates that put Priorat back on the map, in the steep, slate-soil hills of Catalonia. This rosat is a first for them: a blend of 60% Garnatxa, 20% Carinyena and 20% Macabeo, fermented in barrel.
That makes it a different kind of rosé. Expect more weight and texture than a light Provence style, with red fruit, a little spice and the mineral edge Priorat is known for. Barrel fermentation adds roundness rather than obvious oak.
Serve it chilled but not icy, around 50F, in a white wine glass. It's a rosé for the dinner table: grilled fish, paella, roast chicken or charcuterie. A good bottle for someone who thinks rosé is too simple, and a rare chance to try a first release from a serious estate.
