DESCRIPTION
Kopke, founded in 1638, is the oldest Port house, and it is known for its old white Ports. This is a 50 Year Old White, a blend of very old wines aged in wood.
Half a century in barrel turns white Port deep amber. Expect dried apricot, orange peel, honey, roasted nuts and spice, with a rich, concentrated texture and a very long finish. Fresh acidity keeps it from feeling heavy.
Serve it lightly chilled, around 55F, in a small white wine glass. It's wonderful with blue cheese, foie gras, crème brûlée or nut tarts, or on its own after dinner. A rare and memorable gift for a Port lover.
