Method and Madness is an Irish whiskey label, and this bottling is its Single Pot Still Irish whiskey, made in Ireland.
Single pot still is a style found only in Ireland. It is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and distilled in copper pot stills, which gives a creamy, spicy, full-bodied spirit. On the nose it is rich and warming, with Christmas spices, honey and dried orange peel. The first sip brings a burst of sweet fruit, candied fruit and stewed apple. The texture is lovely and mouth-coating, with fragrant citrus and cinnamon spice through the finish. Rich, but lively.
Pour it neat in a Glencairn or tulip glass, and add a few drops of water to open up the spice. It holds up well over a large ice cube and makes an excellent Irish Old Fashioned. Pair it with sharp aged cheddar, apple crumble, Christmas cake or smoked salmon.
