DESCRIPTION

A medium-bodied, well-balanced whisky, McClelland's Highland Single Malt is the perfect expression of this ancient land. Pour a dram and let the drama and beauty of this remote place flow in a gentle, golden rush. On the nose, a distinct maltiness mingles with something a little more unexpected; hazelnut certainly, even cinnamon. Now, the taste - and your patience is rewarded. Again the malt is up front and centre, building up to a sweet, intense hit of honey. All that fruit, all those flavors comes together for a long, smooth finish.

Nose:  Sharp; redolent of wood shavings and damp cardstock with a whiff of vanilla buttercream icing. A little time in the glass reveals a delicate fruitiness.


Palate: Light-bodied with flavours of thinned caramel, more wood shavings, fruit lozenge, ginger, and a dash of cocoa powder.

Finish: Plenty of hang time here; the cocoa notes, tinged by lime, twist into a sour, burning, tootsie roll whose smoldering embers emit a mouth-coating reek of whisky-soaked ashtray.
