This Pinot Gris combines fruit from premium sites in Central Otago, including Maude’s mature family owned vineyard in Wanaka, Mt Maude. Typical aromas of ripe pear, quince and brioche lead onto a rich textured palate where whole bunch pressing and partial barrel fermentation has created complexity.
A pale straw with hints of green, this dry Pinot Gris presents aromas of floral and hints of ginger frame defined flavors of poached pear and exotic spice.(100% Pinot Gris). Hand harvested fruit from Mt Maude and Cromwell Basin was whole-bunch pressed to extract only free run juice, which was fermented in stainless steel. The Pisa Range fruit was slightly riper and more robust; it was foot-stomped for a bit then pressed and 40% fermented in older oak barrels for two months which contributed viscosity and texture to the wine.
