Maloof is a small Oregon winery, and this Pinot Gris comes from Temperance Hill Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, a cool, windswept corner of the Willamette Valley.
Oregon Pinot Gris tends to sit between the crisp Italian style and the richer Alsace style, and cool-climate sites like this one keep it fresh. Expect pear, white peach and citrus, a little texture on the palate, and a clean, mineral finish.
Serve it chilled, around 48F. It is very good with Dungeness crab, oysters, grilled fish, Thai salads or a summer cheese board. A great pick for anyone who wants a white with more character than a basic Pinot Grigio.
