Maison Louis Latour is one of the old family houses of Burgundy, based in Beaune. Pommard is the village just south of Beaune, known for the most robust Pinot Noir of the Côte de Beaune.
Pommard is darker and firmer than its neighbor Volnay. Expect black cherry, plum and a little earth and spice, with more structure and tannin than a regional Bourgogne. It's young, so it will soften and gain complexity with a few years in the cellar.
Serve it around 60-62F in a wide Burgundy glass, and give it some air first. It's a good match for roast duck, beef bourguignon, lamb or mushroom dishes. A classic village Burgundy from a dependable name.
