The Premier Cru Beaune Clos du Roi is located below the Clos des Marconnets. The wines from Clos du Roi have a softer character with gentler tannins than those of its neighbors. It is therefore ready to drink earlier. Chanson owns approximately 35% of the area in Clos du Roi and is thus the most important bottler in this Cru. Two-thirds of Chanson's parcels are planted with Pinot Noir. This Premier Cru takes its name from King Louis XI, who once owned this vineyard
