Lomita is a winery in Baja California, Mexico, the country's main wine region, a short drive south of the US border. Mexican wine has improved fast over the last twenty years, and producers like Lomita are a big part of why people are paying attention.
Baja's climate is warm and dry, cooled by breezes off the Pacific, which tends to give wines with ripe fruit, generous texture and a fresh, slightly salty edge. Pagano is one of Lomita's own bottlings from the 2020 vintage.
Open it, give it a little air, and serve it with grilled fish tacos, carne asada, mole or a plate of local cheeses. It is a good bottle for anyone curious about what Mexico is doing with wine.
