Blended and aged at JUSTIN Winery's estate in Paso Robles, California, the Justification marries Bordeaux grape varieties-primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot-grown on west-facing hillsides cooled by Pacific fog. Grapes are hand-harvested at night and undergo separate fermentations in small, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maceration on the skins for up to three weeks to extract deep color and firm tannins. The wine then spends 20 months in 80% new French oak barrels, where gentle micro-oxygenation refines structure and layers in vanilla, clove and cedar spice. The result is a plush, full-bodied red showcasing blackberry, cassis and graphite, whose rich power still reflects the sun-baked calcareous soils of Paso Robles.
