DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Corton is the only red grand cru in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, a big hill shared by the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix and Pernand-Vergelesses. Les Maréchaudes is one of the named sections of that grand cru, and this bottle comes from Jean-Pierre Maldant.
Corton reds are Pinot Noir with more muscle than most Côte de Beaune wines. Expect dark cherry and red berry fruit, some earth and spice, and firmer tannins than you'd find in a village Burgundy. The 2022 is young, so the fruit will lead for now.
Decant it for an hour if you open it soon, and serve around 60-62F in a wide Burgundy glass. It's very good with roast beef, duck, venison or mushroom dishes. Grand cru Burgundy at this price is unusual, so it's worth buying a second bottle to open in a few years.
Bottle size: 750ml
