Domaine Huet is the reference producer of Vouvray in the Loire Valley, and Le Mont is one of its three famous vineyards. Moelleux means this is a sweet wine, made from Chenin Blanc in the hot 2003 vintage.
It has had two decades to mature, and it shows. Expect maple syrup and honey on the nose, sweet stone fruit and a little lychee, then white flowers and peach on the finish. Chenin's acidity keeps the sweetness lively rather than heavy.
Serve it lightly chilled, around 50F, in a white wine glass. It's lovely with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit tarts or spicy Asian dishes, or on its own after dinner. A rare chance to taste a mature sweet Loire Chenin from a great name.
