Frank Family's Reserve Rutherford Cabernet comes from one of the best-known stretches of Napa Valley, and the 2021 vintage is a blend of three serious vineyards: Beckstoffer Georges III, Winston Hill and Benjamin Ranch, roughly a third each.
Rutherford Cabernet is known for its dusty, earthy edge, and this one brings plenty of fruit to go with it. It's very generous in black fruit, ripe and easy to love, full-bodied with moderate tannins and a velvety texture. It's the kind of wine people go back to for a second glass without thinking.
Open it 30-60 minutes ahead and serve around 62-65F in a large glass. Made for a ribeye, braised short ribs or a hard aged cheese. It drinks well now and will keep for years, so it's a good bottle for a birthday or anniversary.
