DESCRIPTION
A single vineyard estate wine produced from older Pommard vines and aged for 20 months in French oak barrels(30% new).Flavors and aromas of fresh black cherry and raspberry, with a dustingof Christmas spice are wrappedaround a core of juicy, long-grainedtannins. Nestled on a lower terrace of the Eola-Amity Hills' eastern slope inOregon's Willamette Valley, our east facing13-acre estate vineyard, LePuits Sec, was planted in 1986. The soils are primarily basalt-derivedvolcanic andvery well drained, thus yielding pinot noirs with greatstructure and at the same time intense aromatics with finesse.
Evesham Wood obtained organic certification for both our estatevineyard and winery from Oregon Tilth in2000. In addition, we arecharter members of the Deep Roots Coalition, an advocacy group for winesproduced exclusively from non-irrigated vines. Since 2005 Evesham Woodhas been associated with theinternational organic/biodynamicorganization, Renaissance des Appellations, whose members are requiredto adhere to rigid organic and quality standards.
