Elijah Craig Bourbon 18 Year Single Barrel |
Wine Enthusiast 95 points - Due to inventory shortages, this bottling had been discontinued; in fall 2015, it returned after a three-year hiatus. This is a robust, full-flavored whiskey, scented with oak and toffee. It tastes almost like an Old Fashioned, meaning distinct orange peel and cherry notes intertwined with the vanilla and caramel. The long finish offers vanilla, oak and orange peel. 15,000 bottles released. Top 100 Spirits 2016.Kara Newman, September/2016
Ultimate Beverage Challenge 93 points - Stunning amber in shade, this bourbon shows traditional but concentrated aromas of peanut brittle, vanilla cookie, orange preserve, and lemon tea. On tasting bombastic flavors of toasted oak, baked peach, and dried honey erupt and linger. -2019 Ultimate Spirits Challenge (Excellent, Highly Recommended).April/2019
Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel was first introduced in 1994, and quickly gained legendary status at a time when super-premium Bourbon offerings were few and far between. As demand for the rare whiskey grew, there weren’t enough 18-year-old barrels that met our Master Distillers’ strict quality standards, so the bottling was discontinued in 2012. Since then, stocks have come back into line, allowing Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel to again be available.
