E. Guigal is one of the great names of the northern Rhône, and its white Crozes-Hermitage comes from the largest appellation in the region. White Crozes is made mostly from Marsanne, often with some Roussanne.
Expect a golden color with aromas of white flowers and acacia and a delicate touch of oak. The palate is full-bodied and rich, but there's a lovely freshness that keeps it lively. It balances finesse and richness better than most whites at this price.
Serve it around 50-54F in a white wine glass. It's a great match for roast chicken, pork, creamy pasta, seafood in butter sauce or soft cheeses. A good choice for someone who likes Chardonnay and wants to try something new.
