DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Domaine de Courcel is one of the old family estates of Pommard, the Côte de Beaune village known for the firmest, most muscular red Burgundies. Les Vaumuriens is a vineyard on the upper slope of the village.
Deep purple in the glass. Fresh tobacco and mocha on the nose, then ripe dark berry fruit on the palate. It's full, intense and very direct, which is exactly what Pommard is known for. This is Pinot Noir with structure.
Give it an hour in a decanter and serve around 60-62F in a wide Burgundy glass. Pommard can handle richer food than most Pinot: duck, beef bourguignon, roast pigeon or aged Comté. A good bottle for anyone who thinks Burgundy is too delicate.
Bottle size: 750ml
