Lazaridi is a family winery in northern Greece, in the region of Drama. This red blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Agiorgitiko, Greece's most planted red grape.
The idea is simple: Agiorgitiko softens the intensity of the Cabernet. Expect dark berries and cassis from the Cabernet, with the soft, plummy, gently spiced fruit Agiorgitiko is known for. It's structured but smooth.
Serve it around 60-62F. It's very good with grilled lamb, souvlaki, moussaka, burgers or roast vegetables. A good introduction to Greek red wine for anyone who already likes Cabernet Sauvignon. Drama sits in Macedonia, in the far northeast of Greece, where the climate suits both international and native grapes. It's the kind of red that tastes familiar and new at the same time, which makes it an easy bottle to bring to dinner.
