Clémentin is the second wine of Château Pape Clément, one of the historic estates of Pessac-Léognan, just south of the city of Bordeaux. This is the white, made from the region's classic white grapes led by Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
It's pale yellow, with strong citrus, lemon and minerality on the nose. The palate has medium-high acidity and body, a dry core and a touch of bitterness on the aftertaste that keeps it refreshing. Poised and fresh.
Serve it chilled, around 48-50F, in a white wine glass. It's excellent with oysters, grilled fish, goat cheese, chicken with herbs or a simple seafood pasta. White Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan is one of the wine world's best-kept secrets, and this is an affordable way to try it.
