Château Toulifaut is a red from Pomerol, the small Right Bank appellation where Merlot is king and the wines are known for their plush, round texture.
This is a structured wine, round, with red and black fruits. Toasted notes come through thanks to new oak barrels. It has the softness people love in Pomerol, with enough backbone to stand up to food. The 2019 has had a few years to settle, so the oak is integrated and the fruit is ready to enjoy.
Open it an hour ahead and serve around 62-64F in a Bordeaux glass. Try it with sauces and stews, or with small and large game. A smart way to drink Pomerol without paying for its famous names.
