Château Sainte-Marie Pomerol 2018 |
Editor's note: “Glorious Pomerol! First of All, “How Did We Get This”, We're Not Telling...Just Enjoy Every Second of It! Gonna Go Fast...”
The crown jewel of Bordeaux Right Bank, Pomerol is famous for crafting the world’s smoothest red wines, at once powerful and elegant. The tiny zone is just three kilometres long, but boasts names like Petrus and Cheval Blanc—Sainte-Marie is a happy bargain in their ritzy, glamorous neighbourhood.
While 2018 was a bit of a confusing vintage, James Suckling said, "I really didn’t expect the 2018 to turn out to be such an exceptional year but the wines it produced are beautiful." We jumped at the opportunity to scoop up some Sainte-Marie. Relying on the standard Bordeaux blend to craft this dark, berry-scented red. Smooth and sexy, it’s a steal from the region — don’t wait! Remember to be patient, the vibrancy and youthfulness shouldn't distract from the awesomeness that awaits a few years down the road.
The mix of sand, gravel, and clay that covers Pomerol makes the region ideal for plummy Merlot and spicy Cabernet Franc, two grapes that come together in this traditional red to give it a spicy edge. Ready to drink now, this is an excellent value from luxury terroir!

great hearty wine , to go with red meats , needs to be aired out out a bit to soften its flavor as initial taste was a bit acrid ran wine thru an airator and it was just what it needed , everyone was satisfied with taste .
