Château Musar is Lebanon's most famous winery, based in the Bekaa Valley. The Jeune (formerly called Cuvée Rouge) is its younger, fresher red, made to be enjoyed now rather than cellared like the Grand Vin.
It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsault with some spicy Syrah added. Expect dark cherry fruit on the palate, with palpable but approachable tannins and a bit of spice. It's vegan, too.
Serve it at around 60-62F, or slightly cooler on a warm day. It's very good with grilled lamb, kebabs, mezze, roast vegetables or a burger. If you've never tried a Lebanese wine, this is an easy, affordable place to start. The Hochar family has run Musar for generations, and its wines have a style all their own.
