DESCRIPTION
Château Lynch-Bages is one of Pauillac's best-loved estates, a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification that many people think drinks well above its rank. Like most Pauillac, it's built on Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2020 is a sun-ripened vintage, with freshness and good acidity holding it together. The tannins are very ripe but powerful, in line with the 2018 and 2019. Expect the Lynch-Bages style of blackcurrant, cedar and graphite, with plenty of concentration. It's a wine with a long life ahead.
It's still young. If you open it now, decant for two hours and serve around 64F in a large Bordeaux glass. Lamb is the classic match, along with steak and hard cheeses. Otherwise, lay it down for several years. It's an excellent bottle for a cellar or a birth-year gift for 2020.
