Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse is the second wine of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, a Fifth Growth in Pauillac. It's made from the same vineyards as the grand vin, from younger vines, and is ready to drink sooner.
Pauillac is Cabernet Sauvignon country, blended with Merlot. Expect blackcurrant and black cherry, cedar and a little graphite, with smooth, ripe tannins. 2018 was a warm, ripe vintage in Bordeaux, which suits a second wine well.
Decant it for 30 minutes and serve around 62-64F in a large red wine glass. It's made for steak, roast lamb or a hard cheese. A real Pauillac at a friendly price, good for learning what the appellation tastes like.
