DESCRIPTION
Chateau de Sales is the largest estate in Pomerol, with about 47.6 hectares of vines. Most Pomerol estates are tiny, so de Sales stands out for its size as well as its price.
The 2019 is 72.5% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12.5% Cabernet Franc. Expect plum, black cherry and soft, round Merlot tannins. Pomerol is usually expensive, and this is one of the best values in the appellation.
Give it an hour in a decanter and serve at 60-64F. It is lovely with roast duck, veal, lamb, beef stew or mushroom risotto, and it can rest in the cellar for years yet.
