Tavel is the only appellation in the Rhône Valley that makes nothing but rosé, and Château d'Aqueria is one of its best-known estates. The grapes are handpicked from the château's own vineyards.
Tavel is not a pale, delicate rosé. It's deeper in color and fuller in body, with ripe strawberry and red fruit, a little spice and a dry finish. It's the rosé to drink when you'd otherwise want a light red.
Serve it chilled, around 50F. It stands up to grilled fish, roast chicken, paella, charcuterie and spicy dishes, and works year-round, not just in summer. For anyone who thinks rosé is only a pool wine, this one will change their mind.
