DESCRIPTION
Château Beauregard is an estate in Pomerol, the small right-bank Bordeaux appellation famous for plush, Merlot-based reds. 2016 was a highly regarded vintage across Bordeaux, and this is a chance to enjoy it.
Pomerol is Merlot country, often with some Cabernet Franc. Expect ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry, with notes of truffle, cocoa and violets. The texture is smooth and velvety, with fine tannins that give it shape.
It's drinking well now and will keep for years. Decant it for an hour and serve around 62-64F in a large glass. Roast duck, lamb, beef fillet or a mushroom and truffle pasta are all excellent pairings. A Pomerol from a strong year at a fair price, and a great bottle for a special dinner.
