Caymus is the Wagner family's Napa Cabernet, and for decades it's been the bottle a lot of people mean when they say "Napa Cab". The 2023 sticks to the house style: rich, ripe and ready to drink.
Blackberry and cassis up front, with mocha, oak and warm spice behind them. It's full-bodied and plush, with polished tannins and a long finish. Some people find Caymus too lush; if you like your Cabernet generous and smooth, this is exactly what you want.
Open it about 30 minutes ahead and serve at cool room temperature, around 60-65F, in a large red wine glass. It's built for steak, short ribs, burgers or a hard aged cheese. It drinks well now and will hold a few more years. An easy, crowd-pleasing gift for any red wine drinker.
